2nd Seminar Series – How is Pharma 4.0 changing the biopharmaceutical process world?
On Thursday, April 22nd 2021 the first seminar of the “Seminar Series 2021” took place on the topic „Challenges in Chromatographic Modelling“– presented by Chris Williams (Roche) and organized by ISPE SC TU Munich in cooperation with the ISPE DACH Emerging Leaders.
Pharma 4.0 is one of the big topics being discussed in the industry right now. Because of this, the ISPE SC Munich organized this and 3 following seminars to show how Pharma 4.0 is changing the industry.
After a brief introduction to ISPE and ISPE DACH EL by Zacharias Heck and Felix Desch, Chris Williams started with his presentation about „Challenges in Chromatographic Modelling”.
A major step in downstream processing is the chromatography with which antibodies and proteins in general can be purified. Modelling in this field helps to understand how changes of process parameters, like the concentration of salts or ligands, affect the binding equilibrium, retention volume and peak width. Through modeling, the goals of reducing costs and time and increasing or maintaining the quality can be achieved.
Chris Williams also makes clear the importance of the model interpretation and the comparison with experimental data.
The one-hour seminar then ended with a Q&A session including the participants.
With more than 60 international participants from industry and academia, the first seminar of the seminar series was a complete success. This is also reflected in the predominantly positive evaluation of the seminar.
On Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 our second seminar of the “Seminar Series 2021” took place on the topic “How AI and Voice Recognition technologies like LabTwin shape the Lab of the Future” and was presented by Sukanija Thillainadarasan and Dr. Pablo-David Rojas (LabTwin).
After a brief introduction to ISPE and ISPE DACH EL by Zacharias Heck and Felix Desch, the seminar starts with an interactive presentation from LabTwin.
Detailed and proper documentation is the be-all and end-all in the pharmaceutical industry. Sukanija Thillainadarasan and Dr. Pablo-David Rojas showed how LabTwin improves and facilitates the logging of work steps.
However, LabTwin’s laboratory assistant not only includes a sophisticated speech recognition system tailored to the technical language used in the laboratory, but also a platform for creating the necessary documents.
With more than 30 international participants from industry and academia, the second seminar of the seminar series was a complete success. This is also reflected in the predominantly positive evaluation of the seminar.
